Weight Loss For Women: Does It Matter?

Carrying around extra pounds influences your health and wellness in many more ways than you might imagine. Extra weight increases risk for everything from heart disease to gallstones and may have a negative impact on your sex life!

Do you need to lose 10, 15, 25 pounds or more? If carrying even the smaller amounts of 10 or 15 extra pounds may not seem like much, think again. Try lugging around with you an equivalent weight all day. How about a 10-pound sack of potatoes? See how you feel at the end of the day and imagine the impact this extra weight has on your body day after day.

Maybe you are already aware that the risk for heart disease and diabetes increases with weight gain. But did you know that extra weight also increases your risk for cancer? Being heavy or gaining a significant amount of weight as an adult increases your risk for postmenopausal breast cancer, colorectal cancer, endometrial cancer, esophageal cancer, and kidney cancer.

Women who are overweight but not obese (more than 30-35% body fat) have a 34 % higher risk of dying of breast cancer than women who are normal weight for their age. According to recent research (2006) by the American Cancer Society as many as 90,000 deaths from cancer from all causes might be prevented by maintaining normal weight.

Obesity also increases risk for stroke, hypertension, acid reflux disease, gallstones, osteoarthritis, and the formation of blood clots in the legs (that could travel to the lungs or elsewhere).

Modern medicine has actually lessened but not eliminated the risk for heart disease for those who are overweight. But there are limits. Drugs may reduce risk but not bring someone to the same level of good health as those individuals without risk factors such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure. And drugs often carry the risk of unwelcome side effects.

If all this seems depressing, there is some good news! Losing as little as 5 to 10 percent of your starting weight can be very beneficial. For someone who is 160 pounds, 5 percent would be only 8 pounds. 10 percent would be 16 pounds. So 8 to 16 pounds might be enough to lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels, risk factors for heart disease and diabetes.

In addition, a ten percent loss of weight may be just what the doctor ordered for your sex life! According to recent research by scientists at Duke University, study participants who lost as little as ten percent of their body weight claimed to have significant improvements in their sex life!

Most of the 187 participants in the study were women who reported having more sexual problems at the beginning of the study then half way through. After a year the number of women who felt sexually unattractive dropped from 68% to 28%. The weight loss seemed to lessen their fears about being seen naked and increased their desire and sexual enjoyment.

So consider this...You might choose to lose those extra pounds for your health and experience fewer serious medical problems as you age. Plus you'll not only look better and feel better now but you might enjoy more... well, you know...

Correct Understanding The Human

The Human has been created in the just centre of the values in the universe. He is one of the most honourable of the Creatures. He is a dear and respected existence. If we can understand the human in a correct way, it becomes possible to understand a lot of things in a correct way.

To be able to understand even a simplest thing in a correct way, it is needed that to know all the dimensions of it, such as width, height and thickness. Like this, if the human was only evaluated with whole dimensions, his real status appears.

There are five existence dimensions of the human.

The first of the existence dimensions is his "substance". His corpse represents the "substance" dimension, which is put into grave when he diead. Human "substance" dimension is such as same all other substances. He has got a weight, a volume and a colour. He is able to analysis as physically and chemically. All the processes which can be applied to the other subtances are can be applied to this.

The second is "physiological events" dimension. This is plant-like life dimension of the human. A person in coma represents this dimension. Physiological dimension is a dimension that the liveliness events (metabolical events) begin in the human body. The energy producing mechanisms (catabolism) and the biosentesis mechanisms (anabolism) using this produced energy is purposed as saying "the liveliness events". The energy transfer is executed by coenzyme ATP, between this two mechanisms.

A big groups of subtances and ions consist of thousands of enzymes, coenzymes, different chemical ingredients and various chemical carriers (chemical group transferors and electron transporters) and hormones which control all these chemical events act a role in these physiological events, except coenzyme ATP. This is a very complex, dinamic and difficult comprehensible organisation.

The third of the existence dimensions of the human is "psychological events". This is animal-like life dimension of the human. A mad void of mind represents this dimension. Psychological dimension is a dimension that the spiritual events begin in the human body. There is the consciousness at this dimension. There are sensations, emotions and passions, which appear as pleasures and pains. There is the attention. There is the perception the senses coming from the environment. There is to constitute knowledge and concept. There is to save these materials at the memory. There are some spiritual effectivenesses such as to identify, to give reaction to the effects coming from environment, and the intelligence.

The fourth of the existence dimensions of the human is "mind" or "senses". This is humanistic life dimension of the human. A man managing every thing by valuating every event by using his mind represents this dimension. The mind is a thinking, an analysing and synthesizing and a deciding mechanism. The mind is a special feature for the human that he is being differed from animals with it. If the mankind has not being posssesed a mind, any distinctness was not be from an other intelligent animal.

The mind is a measuring and valuating mechanism that valuates every thing according to "the measure" giving to its hand. At this dimension, human uses the "individual benefit" measure, for the moral values is not yet given to his hand. According to him, every thing being suitable to his private benefit is "good", but every thing being adverse to his private benefit is "bad".

The man at this dimension possesses of character or vigorously "personality", for this reason that the mind is a deciding mechanism. He is a man that owning some desires and wishes, owning some peculiar thinks, and trying to manage and to change his surroundings according to his self wishes.

The essential dimension is fifth dimension that makes the human in real meaning a true man. The fifth dimension is "spiritual and moral" dimension. This is heavenly life dimension of the human. A ripe, mellow, merciful, decent and well-mannered man represents this dimension. This dimension is a dimension that the human gets a heavenly character (personality) in place of previous humanistic character (personality), by passing from a divine schooling by his God.

At this dimension, "the measure" using by the mind is changed, and "divine consent" measure has been taken in place of "individual benefit" measure.

Every thing changes in the life of the human in consequence of passing to fifth dimension. The human becomes fine, graceful, decent, truthful, serious, mellow, ripe, tolerant, uncomplaining, helpful, merciful, righteous, generous, resigned, not hurry and confusion in his works, as wholly distinc from previous dimension. This is a situation that appears on the human in consequence of getting moral values which belonging to God and His prophets, by passing from the divine schooling. Such upgraded man to fifth dimension, at that, is a dear and respected existent. The human in this status is the khalif of His God, on the world.

My Dear Brother,

Of course, to be arrived the high character and morality at the fifth dimension by a man is not much easy. This is a long way, with seesaws. To be slowly or quickly of the travelling is not important in this. A man arrives to the destination early or late as he begins this travelling. The most important matter in this is to consent by a man to be schooled by his God, modestly and by leaving the haughtiness.

Of course, for this, primarily, it is needed to believe to the paramount Creator and to recognize the existence of Him. The most of the humans say that: "We believe the God". But the majority is not sincere in this. Whereas, there are so much reasons for believing a God who created all the universe and manages it as He wishes...

Five Tips For Getting Picky Kids To Eat Fruits And Vegetables

Is your child super-picky? Its sometimes tough to know whether cautious eaters, as I like to call them, are getting proper nutrition. Here are a few strategies that have worked for getting my toddler to eat her fruits and vegetables. Every kid is different, but some of these tips might just work for you, too.

1. Bake fruits or vegetables into quick bread or muffins. My daughters favorite are apple-banana muffins.

2. Make a yummy casserole. My girl likes rice and cheese, so I make her a cheesy broccoli and brown rice casserole. She wont eat broccoli by itself, but doesnt seem to mind it in this dish.

3. Stir some pureed carrots or sweet potatoes into macaroni and cheese. The trick with this is to be careful not to change the color or the taste much. Orange or yellow veggies work best here.

4. Offer dried fruits. For example, some kids wont eat grapes, but like raisins. These are highly portable, too. (Caution - may be a choking hazard for young toddlers.)

5. This may sound strange, but try offering a single bite-sized bit of fruit on a dish by itself. My daughter seems to like for her food to be separated and neat-looking. When she eats the first piece of diced peach, I put down the second, and so on. She ends up eating more than she would have had I given her the entire serving at once.

Ive also found that if you offer the fruit or vegetable at the beginning of a meal when your child is hungriest, as an appetizer, he or she is much more likely to try it. Also, remember never to force your child to eat. It can take a lot of extra effort and creative thinking to get your kids to eat whats good for them. But hey, one day they might thank you for it.

Your Resume Must Represent Your Career Goals

When drafting your resume, it is easy to fall into the habit of focusing on the past. After all, much of your resume will consist of a list of things youve donefrom positions youve held to special awards youve received to degrees youve attained. A resume is, in fact, a compilation of your professional and, in some cases, personal history. Therefore, admittedly, much of your resume will have sentences and clauses that are in the past tense.

And yet, a resume should also be a forward-looking document. In other words, it should not simply indicate where youve beenit should also inform a potential employer about where youre headed. As a result, in order to craft a truly effective resume, you must be somewhat futuristic in your thinking. This means clearly articulating your career goals within the text of your resume.

First Step: Define Your Goals

Placing your career goals on your resume can be quite a challenge if you do not have a clear idea of what those goals are. If you are in this position, youre certainly not alone. Many of us have difficulty visualizing where we would like to be five or ten years down our career path. In a number of cases, this may be the result of selling ourselves short, thinking that the highest levels of achievement in our chosen field are closed to us because we are lacking in some areainterpersonal communication, written communication, decision-making ability, or other job skills which are critically important for managers.

However, if you talk with someone who has made significant progress in his or her career, you might be surprised to learn that this individual also faced feelings of inadequacy or believed that he or she was ill prepared for the job now held. Even sons and daughters of business owners often have to start out in entry-level jobs before they master the skills and expertise needed to run a company. In other words, it would be wrong to assume that a corporate executive is inherently more talented or more intelligent than you are.

Through researchinterviewing executives, reading business magazines, and talking to members of professional organizations that you belong toyou should be able to develop a clearer idea of what your career goals are. Perhaps you would like to secure a managerial positionmaybe youd like to teach at the college levelor perhaps you would like to own your own company some day. Jot both immediate and long-term goals down on paper so you have some idea what kind of information youd like to convey on your resume.

Showcase Your Goals

Once you have defined your career goals, it is important that you showcase them on your resume. Of course, there are various schools of thought about how to highlight career goals most effectively. Which approach you ultimately decide to take depends on a number of factors: what your colleagues and mentors consider to be most effective; what you yourself are comfortable with; and what is the most appropriate approach for the position youre attempting to pursue.

One effective means of spotlighting your career goals is by placing them under a Career Objective category in your resume. This category affords you the opportunity to clearly articulate the direction in which youd like your career path to go. If you have more than one career goal to list, its perhaps most effective to list your goals in bullet-point format.

But there are also some other creative ways you can indicate your career goals on your resume. For instance, in the supplemental information you provide for each position youve held, you can indicate how that particular jobor the duties that came with ithelped to move you toward your career goal. As with all the other text in your resume, this information should be stated clearly and succinctly. A simple phrase can inform a prospective employer about how a position aided you in developing the skills needed for achieving your career goals.

Avoid the Temptation of Omitting Critical Information

Unfortunately, some job seekers become so focused on their career goals that they feel that they have to radically alter their resumes in order to demonstrate their dedication to their goals. Such an approach is sure to backfire because it creates a resume that is misleading. When an employer discovers that you have omitted key information, he or she may be understandably reluctant to hire you.

For instance, consider the following scenario: Youve just learned about a position that is available at a highly-respected company known for its fantastic promotion policies, benefit packages, and other perks. This is exactly the type of job youd like to havenot only because of the opportunities it presents, but also because it would help you immensely in accomplishing your long-term career goals.

You decide that a resume re-draft is absolutely essential. However, when you begin the re-writing process, you decide to give a major makeover to the Experience section of your resume. You eliminate every job that does not directly relate to your career goal. By streamlining your resume, you hope to increase your chances of securing the position you desire.

Unfortunately, things in the business world are not that simple. By omitting references to certain jobs in your resume, you are doing a disservice to your employerand to yourself. You are making it appear as if youve been headed in the same direction throughout your career when, in fact, your career might have taken a number of twists and turns. In addition, your streamlining has resulted in the appearance of serious gaps in your work history. If a would-be employer believes that you were unemployed for long periods of time, he or she may simply place your resume in the reject pile.

Be Open-Minded

Recognize that your career goals can change throughout your employment. As a result, you may need to tinker with the career goals text in your resume every so often. This is not an admission of defeatrather, it is simply an indication that, as your work experience broadens, your ultimate objectives may evolve, taking you along paths you never dreamed possible.

Know What You Want: If You Build Them, They Will Come!

When youre looking for that special someone, you need to figure out who this person is going to be. Knowing what you want and who youre looking for really helps you find the right person.

We once attended a seminar on relationships where attendees were asked to design their perfect mates as specifically as possible. The goal was to create a wish list of all the qualities and characteristics we felt were important.

It was a great exercise a lot of the attendees realized that they didnt know what they wanted, although they had very specific ideas of what they didnt want. A few months later, the participants reunited to complete the final part of the seminar, which analyzed our results. We were blown away by how many participants had met people who matched most of the criteria on their list. It was as if putting it down on paper reinforced the belief in their minds eye. Or perhaps by defining what they wanted, they became more conscious of those qualities when they saw them in a potential partner.

Either way, this exercise worked for a large number of people. Visualizing your ideal partner and the relationship you want is a great motivator. Athletes have long understood this process of imagery and will visualize a goal before acting on it. You can do the same with your love life. Give it a shot now! You have nothing to lose.

Close your eyes and picture your ideal partner. Engage all your senses. How does this person smell? What does he or she look like? Listen to this persons voice. How does it sound? When you kiss, how do you feel? Where are you? What are you doing? Are your friends and family around?

How does he or she interact with them? Try this a few times until the picture becomes clear, then take out a piece of paper and make a list of the most important characteristics of this partner.

List about 20 qualities that mean something to you. What values and attributes does this person have? Look over your list and separate your deal breakers from your ideals. Deal breakers are the absolute nonnegotiable traits, like finding a partner who wants children or is of the same religion (if those traits are important to you).

Ideals are more about the attributes or traits youd prefer, like ambitious or good sense of humor. By prioritizing which qualities are important and which are ideal, youll discover what youre absolutely unwilling to accept and where youve got some flexibility.

Be Flexible

Dont be overly specific when you think about your ideal partner such as wanting tall blondes or no bald guys. Celebrate individuality and be open to new possibilities.

You could end up ruling out the woman or man of your dreams simply because they have the wrong hair color or are a few hairs short. Remember, its a wish list, and nobodys perfect. Over the coming months, it will change and grow as you discover whats really important

to you in a relationship. Remain flexible and open with your ideals.

Fools Rush In

One of the biggest dating mistakes many singles make is when people are in too much of a rush to settle down. Disaster! They hook up with the first compatible person who comes along, instead of dating several people and then making a powerful choice as to whats best for them.

Give yourself time to choose. The dating experience teaches you a great deal about whats really important to you in a partner and what you have to offer. By observing yourself, you will gain new insight into how you react to different situations, and which problems you bring into each relationship. Its only when you are inside the dynamic of a relationship that you can truly discover these things otherwise its all in your head.

How to Foster a Champion

Can you think of someone you know who exudes courage? Take a second and picture someone in your mind who is particularly courageous. What do they do that makes them seem like this to you?

A couple of weeks ago, I took on a challenge: I decided that my team would adopt a few contestants in the race for the "Next Internet Millionaire" contest. I found some participants who seemed to have a positive message, then posted in the forum offering to promote them. The response was phenomenal and for the next 5 days, I did everything I could to build them up. I sent emails to my lists and blogs encouraging votes. I set up Squidoo pages for each of them. I even ran a small Google adwords campaign offering free advertisements to my list for those who would send positive comments.

What was interesting in this process was the fact that most of the contestants who wanted my help were not the ones I originally chose. Other participants asked me to add them in, make room for another one, or otherwise gave me good reasons why they were worthy of my help, and for the most part, I agreed. Why did I do this? The answer is simple: because I admired their courage in asking. I could have spent a lot less time overall on the project if I had only promoted the original favorites who responded. Instead, I took on most of those who asked because I felt the act of asking in and of itself showed their strength as a leader...and leaders like to work with other leaders!

Think now of the person or people you thought of at the beginning of this article. Have they ever asked for your help? How do you feel generally when someone asks for your help? For me it is validating. Someone thinks enough of me that my actions will somehow improve their situation. I am certain that at least a few of those who asked for my help did not need it at all. They were extending a hand to me as a way of validating me, lifting me up. They were being a leader.

Asking for help is not an easy thing for many of us to do. I have trouble with it quite often. Pride, fear, or for whatever reason, many of us simply do not like to ask for help. This has to change if we are to make it, especially if we are to lead a team. Showing vulnerability is actually an attractive quality. Why is that? Because people are innately, I believe, born to give. Helpful women, problem-solving men, all want to give. Ask someone for help; give them something of value in return, and you are well on your way to fostering a nice relationship. The leader in you is borne.

The Leo Wanta Saga, Pt. 28: White House Said Will Release Wanta $4.5 Trillion "When We Are G... Damn Ready!"

As pressure is being put on the White House by foreign banks and heads of state to release the $4.5 trillion Wanta money, Michael C. Cottrell, the treasurer of the company formed to distribute the money for the benefit of the American people, remains "highly optimistic the trillions will soon be released.

"Yes, we are encouraged we will get the money released soon," said Cottrell in a Wednesday telephone conversation. "There is a lot of pressure from around the world being put on the White House. The heat is being turned up and I just found out the Chinese have taken $5 trillion of the $32 trillion they are owed from the U.S. government. They are backing Ambassador Wanta and pushing for the release of his money."

Cottrell added that one of his inside sources in Washington D.C. recently notified him that officials in the White House said the following in response to Cottrell and Ambassador Wanta's request for the money:

"We will do it when we are G** damn ready!"

Wanta and Cottrell, who together formed AmeriTrust Groupe, Inc. to oversee proper distribution of the massive amount of money, were hoping the money would be released by the end of the business day on Sept. 7, the same day the Chinese were also to be paid trillions by the U.S. government for prior investment gains.

However, the deadline passed without the Wanta $4.5 trillion being paid and still being illegally withheld in a Clearing House Interbank Payment System credit account (CHIPS), an account credited to Goldman Sachs and Co. at Citibank.

In what has become known in international financial circles as one of the most important and explosive stories in the history of modern banking, the Wanta settlement has been the subject of a Bush administration cover-up ever since Ambassador Wanta entered into an official written agreement in November 2005 to repatriate money for the betterment of the American economy.

Further, in May Wanta verbally agreed to the distribution of the $4.5 trillion with President Bush along with the assistance of one Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) court judge and two U.S. Supreme Court Justices.

The settlement, also negotiated with the help of two major U.S. law firms, represents only a portion of the $27.5 trillion offshore fund established at the end of the Cold War, which is now under the legal control of Ambassador Wanta, as duly appointed trustor, a position given to him by former President Ronald Reagan.

In other financial ramifications concerning the failure of U.S. authorities to release the Wanta money, Christopher Story, editor of the International Currency Review in London, recently reported:

"Chinese interests, acting independently of Ambassador Leo Wanta and his business colleague Michael C. Cottrell, M.S., have 'pulled' five or six 'CHIPS' already. The Chinese are using the British pound for oil payments purposes. The pound is therefore likely to appreciate over the weeks ahead.

"Can someone please explain to the Editor of International Currency Review why it is that, seven weeks after we first published this information (also published in the Arctic Beacon), which anyone could check for themselves, the U.S. Treasury implemented the fantastic carousel financing arrangements that were described in the Editor's Posting dated 2nd September 2006 [subsequently updated], which use the 'assets' of some GSEs as collateral? It is as though Mr. Paulson (Sec. of U.S. Treasury) went to the cupboard, opened it, found it not only to be bare, but without walls and a floor, slammed the cupboard shut, and then represented to the world that the cupboard is full of food so that we can all eat and be merry for years to come.

"Nor is the phrase 'scraping the bottom of the barrel' appropriate, since the barrel has no bottom to scrape. No wonder the Chinese are using the pound for oil payments."

Cottrell recently said in a recent Arctic Beacon article that in lieu of nonpayment, Ambassador Wanta "has already lowered the hammer," notifying the major banks in Europe, save Deutsche Bank, who have all agreed to put "stop orders" on any transactions with the U.S. government of $100 million or more.

"Most of the major banks in Europe other than Deutsche Bank have already agreed to the stop orders based on the failure to pay Ambassador Wanta," said Cottrell, including Credit Swiss and UBS. "We have asked the Chinese but I have not heard confirmation that they will go ahead and pull the $32 trillion owed in CHIPS. However, given that President Bush and Paulson cut a deal with Viet Nam and Taiwan whether the Chinese pull the CHIPS is irrelevant because they now have a cash flow through the system that allows them to stash more money away.

"What is most aggravating to me is that the President of the United States and the Secretary of the Treasury have made a deal with a communist country to circumvent an American company from paying taxes. That is what makes me angry because these guys go over and strike a deal to circumvent the American people. They essentially would rather cut a deal in Hanoi then allow us to pay the $1.6 trillion in taxes and use the rest of the money for the betterment of the American economy."

"Besides alerting European banks about nonpayment, Cottrell said he didn't want to "tip his hand" on future plans to secure release of the $4.5 trillion, saying he fears the U.S. government would use this information to circumvent their plans.

How to Make Money with Arts and Crafts

I have been to many arts and craft fairs and festivals in my life and theres on thing I notice in all of them. They are busy. If you pay attention to whats going on at these fairs and festivals, youll notice that people buy these crafts. I thought to myself Why cant I do this? Well, guess what, I can do this and I do.

Let me tell you how I got started in doing arts and crafts. After I visited many of the arts and crafts fairs and festivals, I went home and decided get some e-books on making arts and crafts. The first e-book I got was about soap making. I got this e-book because at the last arts and crafts festival I was at, the soaps was the biggest sellers. I read the e-book and learned how to make soap. I got to work on making soap for the nest arts and craft festival. I didnt want to make a lot of soap at first for fear of not selling it all. Well, I made about 100 bars of soap and asked a friend if I can sell at his book. He said yes. I ended up selling 75 bars of soap. I made a nice little profit from selling the soap.

After that arts and crafts festival, I went home and got a few more e-books. I got about gel candle making, bath salt making and perfume making. I read all the e-books and got busy with making some more soap, and I started to make perfume, bath salt and gel candles. With the research that I did by going to the arts and crafts fairs and festival, I found out what was hot to sell now.

Anyway, I went back to another arts and crafts festival and ended up getting my own booth. I ended up selling all but 10 bars of soap, selling all the bath salt I made, selling all but 1 gel candle and I sold all perfume I made. That weekend I made about $500 with only putting in $100 in products. I was happy. So I went home and ended up get another e-book. I got how to make a wind chime e-book. Well, to make this long story short, I read the e-book made some wind chimes for another arts and crafts festival. I ended up selling all of the wind chimes.

How to Build a Mediation Presentation That Will Make an Insurance Adjusters Sphincter Tighten

I arrived to help my client prepare for his upcoming mediation. The first thing he did was show me all the wonderful family photos he had of his client and her husband, the decedent.

My guy was the perfect plaintiff, the attorney began. Spent tons of time with his kids. He was the one who took them to school most every morning, he coached all their teams. An elder in his church. Loved by his neighbors. A consummate professional. His wife is a great witness. And this, he said pointing to the autopsy photos, is what happened to him. Were going to ring the bell on this one.

I viewed the photos silently, but all I was thinking was, So what?

So what?

CONSIDER YOUR AUDIENCE

Yes, so what? These photos, the stories, the personification of the deceased all have their place in a trial. In a mediation, its slightly different. Were not playing to jurors. Were playing to the person who holds the purse strings. The insurance adjuster. Does an insurance adjuster care that your young client was Phi Beta Kappa? Not likely. Is an insurance adjuster emotionally affected because your clients legs were burned off him while he sat half in and half out of the SUV that had just rolled over on him? Doubtful.

Insurance adjusters have seen the worst of the worst. They see horrific injuries every day. They see perfect plaintiffs every day. It doesnt move them. What do insurance adjusters care about?

Insurance adjusters care about one thing more than anything in the world, even more than money.

Risk.

When an insurance adjuster is listening to and watching a mediation presentation by a plaintiff, she is asking herself, What is my downside here? What is my risk level? And she is constantly weighing the risks of going to trial versus the costs of settling with money that the insurance company would prefer to hold on to for a little longer.

YOUR OBJECTIVE: COMMUNICATE THE RISK

When you start putting together your mediation presentation, instead of asking, Whats great about my case? ask yourself, If I were the adjuster, what about this case would freak me out?

THE ELEMENTS OF THE SPHINCTER-TIGHTENING PRESENTATION

Their Witnesses and Documents

The first answer is bad defense witnesses. Since lawyers in generaland busy defense firms in particulartend to do a terrible job of prepping witnesses before deposition, it is imperative that you videotape all key defense witnesses: company witnesses, doctors and even experts. If you are in the habit of videotaping everything, good for you. If not, now is a good time to get in that habit.

As much as possible, tell the story using defense witnesses. Pull out the parts of depositions that show blazing incompetence, indifference or best yet, bad motive. As much as possible, include documents generated by the defense to bolster your case.

Adjusters dont typically see witness testimony before trial. If theyve got some awful witnesses, make the adjuster painfully aware of it. Start and end with their horrible witnesses.

The Timeline

Sure, a timeline is always helpful for audience comprehension. But in the mediation presentation, you want to use the timeline to highlight points in the process at which the defendants could have made different choices that would have spared the plaintiff his fate. Did they hire against policy? Fail to train? Decide not to inform the customer base of a potentially fatal flaw in the safety product? Put it in the timeline.

WHAT ABOUT MY PLAINTIFF?

Of course your plaintiff needs to be included in the presentation. Doing so serves two purposes: 1) it shows the other side that either your client is a gem (or perhaps that in this venue it wont matter if he isnt); and 2) its good client relations. But the plaintiff should be a coda, just a quick notice to the defense that they wont be able to score big on your guy.

The big dollars dont lie in the beauty of your plaintiffs life and the tragedy of his loss. The big dollars lie in the adjusters uneasiness about the risk. And if you can get the adjusters sphincter to tighten, her hands may well loosen.

Scams, Spams, Viruses and Spyware - Protecting Yourself Online

On the Internet, there's so much to see and do. You can communicate, shop, play and learn. It's a veritable treasure trove of information and activities for just about anyone of any age. Unfortunately, just like in the real world, everything also has a downside. For the Internet, that downside includes, scams, spam, viruses and spyware. Basically, people who want to take advantage of you. This article will give you some basics for protecting yourself online.

Scams

One of the worst scams comes to you via email, in the form of "phishing" emails. They come to you in the form of an email from banks, eBay, a store, Paypal or other business or financial institution. The email will have the name of the company in the from area and the email may look real, complete with corporate logos and official sounding text. Don't be fooled, however. A reputable financial institution or business will never ask you for your username, password, account number or other sensitive personal information via email. NEVER click on the link to the site provided in their email. If you are unsure if the email is fake, then open up your browser and manually type in the URL of the company's website. Go there and login and see if they are requesting something from you there. Chances are, they aren't. You can report these emails or simply delete them.

Other scam emails may come to you from foreign countries asking you to hold a large sum of money for them, in return you get a percentage of the money, usually millions of dollars. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. This scam has been around for years, don't fall for it. It's just a way to get your bank account information and to empty it before you even realize what has happened.

Scam websites are also a problem, whether it's a fly by night store, a phony eBay seller or a store that's actually just trying to get you to give them your personal information for marketing purposes, you can easily avoid these by checking eBay feedback, store reviews via Google and the BBB and other consumer complaint websites.

The solution to scams? Be vigilant. Never click a URL in an email that looks the least bit suspicious. Always check the feedback, reviews and ratings of sellers before buying and never, ever give away your personal information to a website that looks suspicious.

Spam

Spam can be a huge problem if you have had your email address for any length of time. No matter how well you protect your email address by not giving it out to anyone you don't know, you're still going to get spam. You can, however, minimize the time you spend dealing with spam by adjusting the options in your ISP or web mail preferences section. For most web email addresses, like Yahoo Mail, Gmail and Hotmail, you can adjust or train the spam filters so that spam rarely makes it to your main inbox but instead ends up in your Bulk Mail or Junk Mail folder. For AOL users, they have a similar Spam Mail folder and email options which you can adjust to your liking. For stand alone email programs using POP email boxes, any good email program will have spam and junk mail filters as well as allow you to set rules for which mail is deleted, flagged or sent in to the Junk Mail folder according to preferences you set. If you still have a problem, you may consider a third party program like MailWasher at mailwasher.net or SingleFin from singlefin.net. Both programs are free and should help solve or minimize your spam problem.

Viruses

Viruses are a common problem if you spend any time online. That greeting card attachment your friend forwarded you contained more than a greeting card, you've now got a virus! Viruses can slow your computer down, slow down your web surfing or they can do more serious damage like relay sensitive information like your bank login information to a hacker or at the worst end, erase your entire hard drive! To prevent these problems, you should never open attachments unless it's been scanned by a virus program first, also don't download any files from suspicious websites, stick to the well known download sites instead, like download.com. To help keep your computer clean of viruses, download and install one of the many anti-virus programs available. Some good ones are AVG Free Anti-Virus, from grisoft.com and Avast Anti-Virus from avast.com. Both programs are free and will automatically check for new versions of their virus databases so you are protected from existing and new viruses.

Spyware

Spyware is also a common problem that can slow your computer down tremendously and run programs on your computer without you even knowing. Spyware can come from websites, even well known and reputable websites but usually spyware is contained in certain free programs, like games and software that is free due to banner ads or other advertising inside the program. Since spyware can slow down your computer, it's a good idea to download and install at least one program that will protect you from spyware. Two good ones are Spyware Doctor from pctools.com and Ad-Aware SE from lavasoft.de.

Once you have downloaded and installed your anti-virus and spyware protection software, be sure to schedule a full scan of your computer often, at least once a week or more to help keep your computer running fast and smooth.

African Safari - Back To Basics And Reflections On The Creation

The Swahili word safari originally meant "journey" which is further correlated to hunting for survival and exploration of lands.

The safari is typically traveled by foot amidst the vast lands. This is of course deemed to be the best way of experiencing the circle of life in the safari since you can reach to the core of the natives and their unique cultures.

Walking trails are continuously maintained so that the explorers are guided along their courses better. However, visitors can always widen their safari options with many forms of travel available with each safari tour package. Other modes of transportation include hot air ballooning, fly-in safaris, driving safaris, canoeing safaris, horseback riding safaris, and elephant back riding safaris.

These do not only add ease on travel but may also allow access to the deeper domains (and often uncharted places) which contribute more thrills while on tour.

As for the categories, African safaris are normally offered in three basic types: permanent tented safaris, lodge safaris, and mobile safaris. There are also a couple of other safari choices customized depending on the travelers needs. One good example is the honeymoon safari for newly-wed couples.

One complete safari tour that will take you from the Eastern region to the Southern parts lasts around 10 to 21 days. If you are planning to journey this long, it would be best if you avail from a local tour operator or a specialist so you are sure that you what you get is a complete safari adventure.

It is helpful if you have the knowledge of some of the practices, culture and etiquette to adopt well with the localities. As for your choice of safari package, consider the factors such as meals, accommodation, transportation, driver and guide service, excursions, itineraries and supplemental packages.

There are hundreds of conservation parks and wildlife sanctuaries that display the continuous interplay of the wild in its natural setting, marvelous places untouched by technology, and vast array of flora and fauna.

Life in the safari is more serene and offers more grounds for realizing how beautiful creation is. And all these are topped with the unique (and sometimes peculiar) cultures of different African tribes that mark the richness of their history.

African safari seems to remind us how the sixth day of creation looks like. They are the living remembrances of how the Creator intended things to be- the perfection, the diversity, the coexistence between man and his nature, and the life that surrounds everything.

New Defense Secretary Changes Everything Perhaps

On Election Day, the American people spoke very strongly that the direction the President and the Republican Party was taking America towards, is not the direction the country wanted to go in. Presidents are not oblivious to polls. They may not honor them, but they are not oblivious to them. The most important issue in the campaign turned out to be two issues according to the exit polls. They were CORRUPTION, and IRAQ in that order.

The President was quick with a lightening type response to the election. I personally felt Donald Rumsfeld was going to be fired 3 or 4 weeks after the election to allow him to leave with his dignity intact. The President dispatched the now lamb duck Secretary within hours after the voters made their decisions. In doing so, the President is insuring that this Congress will ratify the nomination of Robert Gates, not a Democratic Congress convening in January of 07.

What type of man is Robert Gates, the D Sec as they call the Secretary of Defense? There are parallels to this selection. During the height of the View Nam war, after six plus years in office, Robert McNamara was a worn, beaten man troubled by his own running of that war. His children had even turned against him. His friends advised how can you continue to be a part of this mess? McNamara left, and Lyndon Johnson installed Clark Clifford, one of my heroes who was a legal advisor to every Democratic President since Harry Truman. Clifford was even Joe Kennedys lawyer, the father of the future slain President.

Johnson thought that Clifford would turn into an absolute HAWK on Viet Nam, and turn up the pressure on the war. Instead, he advised Johnson, you are in an un-winnable situation, and I advise a negotiated settlement. Johnson swallowed hard, and announced he would not be his partys candidate for nomination, or re-election in the upcoming months.

Robert Gates the new incoming Secretary of Defense is this Presidents second attempt to reach out to his fathers advisors to HELP HIM. In the last 3 years, not once has this President spoken to the most important advisor he could have spoken with, regarding what to do in Iraq - namely his father, George Herbert Walker Bush. Now when the Iraq war has turned into a quagmire with no end in sight, this President has chosen his fathers CIA director Robert Gates, to step in and turn this thing around.

Gates was a student of Brent Scowcroft (former National Security Advisor), as was Condolezza Rice, our Secretary of State. Scowcroft is considered the ultimate low key professional who ran White House foreign policy when George HW Bush was President. Most people think Secretary of State James Baker called the shots, thats only partially correct. Scowcroft was the professional with the experience. Baker learned of course as the years went by, and became a very effective, diplomatic Secretary of State. Gates was there all the time, a totally professional intelligence analyst who is the only CIA career employee to rise from the bottom to become Director.

The Presidents current status

This President is in trouble, and the people who surrounded him called the Neo-Cons got him into the mess hes in. What you need to understand is that George Bush unlike many other politicians believes what he says, and says what he believes. Most politicians play to the crowd. This mans hero is probably Harry Truman, who walked out of the White House with an approval rating approaching 25% in 1953, and went on to be venerated by succeeding generations of Americans.

President Bush does not play to the crowd. This is evident in his news conferences when he can not help but show his feelings when reporters ask the stupidest SHOWBOAT questions. Bush will not have any part of it. He is an authentic guy that lives his life that way. If the Iraq Study Group chaired by former Secretary of State Baker, gives the President some very tough advice on Iraq, he just might take it. Bush is not a fool. He knows this war is not going well. He also knows the American people like to keep their Presidents on a short leash when it comes to wars, and the free ride is now over.

For the moment, the pressure on President Bush can only get worse. Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld was taking the heat that rightfully belonged to the President. Rumsfeld as a foil for this countrys anger is now gone. Bush will instead take the heat himself. He has no problem with that if he the President continues to believe in the righteousness of his actions, and for the moment he does. The President has been constantly underestimated by his opponents. You dont win two national elections, and one Congressional election in between by being a fool.

Bob Gates is going to change things at the Defense Department, and change them quick. Do not for one moment believe that Rumsfeld was wrong on everything he did, thats nonsense. He did get four big things terribly wrong. One, he underestimated the post Iraq war need for US troop levels. It takes more troops to govern a country and quell discontent, than to invade and take over. Two, He did acquiesce or instigate the destruction of the Iraqi army. That army could have been utilized to re-build and govern post-war Iraq. We simply had to PAY THEM a sum of money equal to a fraction of what we are paying Halliburton for a failed US policy.

Thirdly, he participated in, or instigated the firing of the Sunnis who ran the Iraqi government before finding COMPETENT REPLACEMENTS to replace those fired. They knew how to turn the electricity on, and keep the machinery of government functioning. Even General Patton at the tail end of WW II used Nazi bureaucrats until he could train his own bureaucrats. Fourthly, the Iraqi police were fired, and then new people had to be found, vetted, and trained 3 years have elapsed.

What does it mean? We will never know if democracy would have had a chance to flourish in Iraq. It is too late, too much time has been wasted to wait for that to happen. The Presidents team, and therefore the President FAILED in the EXECUTION of a policy that could have worked had it been implemented properly, perhaps, we will never know. The American people have now lost patience in waiting for this President to correct his own mistakes and forced change upon him via an election.

Robert Gates is his first response. James Baker and the Iraq Study Group in the next couple of weeks will be his second response. Watch for changes in the Defense Department as soon as Gates is approved by the Senate. Does he fire the neo-cons one after another? If he does, you know we are on our way to a new policy.

3 Key Ingredients for your Profit Pulling Website

I am sure you'll agree that the standard of your online business' web presence is of paramount importance and this includes, but is not limited to, the look, feel, usability and functionality of your website as well as its search engine ranking.

However, do not let your online business dreams and aspirations die just because you feel overwhelmed by the above.

Do not worry there are solutions, some that cost oodles of money, but there are cheap ones that not only take care of your website problems but also harnesses the power of 3 internet heavyweights into a ready made website for you.

Below are the 3 key internet partners that you need to have incorporated into your website which also needs to be designed by a qualified web designer or by a degreed computer based systems-engineer.

1. Google

Your site needs to be loaded with Google's adsense Ads encoded with your affiliate ID so that every time someone clicks one your Google Ads on your site you get paid an amount.

This amount can be anything form $0.01 to more than $10.00 a click depending on how much the Google Adwords advertisers have paid etc..

Also the amount you are paid is only a portion of the amount the advertiser will have paid Google for the click.

Google pays affiliate commissions monthly or as soon as there is a balance of $100.00 or more in the affiliate's account. For more info on this subject go here: http://www.worldwidewebinformationcentral.com

2. Clickbank

Clickbank products are a great earner for affiliates.

Not only are they popular and sell fairly easily but there are so many that whatever your interest or field you should be able to find a product that complements your site and interest or area of expertise.

All of the products on your site need to be encoded with your Clickbank affiliate ID so that every time a sale is generated from one of your site's links you will be credited with the commission.

Typical Clickbank commssions are in the range of $25.00 to $35.00 per sale.

Clickbank sends out checks every two weeks so you can always look forward to finding one in your postbox.

3. eBay

Your Website ideally will feature real, live eBay auctions in all categories and the links are embedded with your eBay affiliate ID.

So, when someone clicks an eBay link on your site and buys something you make money.

How easy is that?

Whilst there are many other aspects that go into developing a successful online business, the internet heavyweights are key to the success of your internet business and should be exploited to maximize your business' profitability and longevity.

So just to recap, you need a Ready Made Income Generating Website that harnesses the power of Google Adsense, eBay and Clickbank - designed by a degreed computer-based systems engineer.

Furthermore you need, embedded into the code of the website, your affiliate tracking IDs which will ensure that all site visitors' activities, whether it's clicking on a Google Ad or making an eBay purchase, will be credited to your account.

All thats left for you to do is choose a domain name and your website, with the right service, can be operational within a few days.

God speed.

Best Weight Loss Programs for Combating Fat

It's coming. The signs are already everywhere and you just know the inevitable. With the market brimming with calorie- laden processed foodstuffs combined with the sedentary lifestyle of today, more and more people are facing the problem of getting fat. Not just plain fat- obese.

Obesity can't all be that bad if it's just the mocking and the inability to do most normal things like running and climbing a long length of stairs then again, with obesity comes high blood pressure, heart diseases, respiratory problems, diabetes and arthritis among other ailments. If you want to live long enough to enjoy your golden years, gear up for another version of the Battle of the Bulge.

Obesity does not choose its victims. It can sink in as early as the age of six and decreases life expectancy by an average of 7- 20%, not to forget that the pollution and stress will make those numbers rise even higher. Factors to obesity include age, gender, genetics, stress, lifestyle and of course, food.

Most weight loss programs target the elimination of unnecessary calories or those calories beyond a person's required basal metabolism- that's the amount of calories needed to keep a person's basic bodily functions up and running normally. However, with the fads and trends of "Kate Moss" models, some programs go as far as starvation and gastric bypasses.

These are not recommended for a lot of reasons but let's enumerate some for good measure:

1) Quick weight loss tactics only mean quick weight loss- not permanent, not long- term and not healthy.

2) Complications can and will arise from drastic measures beginning with the lack of nutrients. Besides, obese people usually don't do well under the knife unless the doctors say so.

3) Do you really want liposuction? Or cutting off a part of your stomach or intestine?

Some programs focus on removing the sources of fat from a person's diet. The Eat More, Weigh Less does just that by encouraging fruits, vegetables, whole grains and little meat without any caloric restrictions whatsoever as long as the fat content falls below 10% of what you eat. The Pritkin diet also goes along these lines. But before choosing any of these diets, one must consider that fat- the unsaturated kind- is also essential to our body. Some critics have said that these diets are not for everyone, especially those who have high- fat bodies, as the diet will only lead to an inadequacy in fatty acids.

The Atkins diet promotes protein since Dr. Robert Atkins believes that carbohydrates are the main causes of obesity. The diet would allot a person meals consisting of 36% protein, 8% carbohydrates, 53% fat or for maintenance 24% protein, 40% fat, 31% carbohydrates. Another popular diet called the South Beach diet also makes meat a hero by advocating foodstuffs that are high in protein, high in fiber, low in carbohydrates and low in animal fats. Although the South Beach diet was developed for those with a high risk of getting diabetes or heart diseases, the aforementioned diet does not balance the basic food groups.

Then there's the McDougall Project for Maximum Weight Loss, which is basically a vegan diet. Think greens and yellows as these should make up 1/3 of what you eat.

Another example is the Weight Watchers Winning Points program. Based on your statistics and details, the program will allot you "points" that you can use when choosing what to eat. All you have to do is to remain within that range by taking care to select what's right. Vegetables almost have an equivalent of 0 while fruits have 1-2 points per serving. Complex carbohydrates and fats have the highest.

What you can do to get the best program for you is get to the root of the problem and attack from that point. Be idealistic when setting goals. The weight lost per week should fall in the range of - 2 lbs and not exceeding 3. It will be slow at first. Weight lost during the early stages will be mostly water fat so a doctor's supervision is really needed if you plan on losing a lot of pounds.

The body will adapt quickly to the diet so prep up the arsenal with a combination of aerobic (running) and anaerobic (weight training) exercise. In order to maintain this, exercise for at least 15- 30 minutes in increasing increments per day.

The program should also include help for when hunger anxiety attacks and depression urges you to binge. Losing weight involves the mindset too.

Those are just some examples of diet programs, which promise weight loss. But here's catch, what works for others may not work for you. For example, there's such a diet that dictates what you can and can't eat based on your blood type. One can't guarantee same results on such general terms. Weight and build depends on a lot of factors and not just on a single basis as blood type. Word of advice: have a weight loss program tailored for you. Specialists can aid you on this one and with their supervision you will win this fight!

Housework With Toddlers - Here Comes Trouble!

It's so interesting that once our babies start toddling around, creating a lot more mess in their insatiably curious and neverending activity, we expect ourselves to have a perfectly tidy home. When your baby was younger you probably imagined that once she started sleeping through the night and playing independently you would get a handle on the chores. Surprise!

Mothering a toddler is fun but constant vigilance. Not only are you concerned with her physical safety but you are rightly concerned with her emotional health as well. You want to have fun and play with your little one but as an adult, you have a need for some order. What to do? Here are some tips that have worked for many other Moms.

Rethink Housework & Define Your Minimums

Try to lower your standards a bit. If your house could pass the white glove test before you had kids and you try to keep up that standard now, you could drive yourself nuts.

If you have a lot of trouble doing this, then think for a moment about why. Are you trying to live up to someone else's idea of what your house should look like? Are you worried about what your mother, mother in law or neighbors might think? In any case, if you're feeling judged, take a look at that and decide what's more important to you. Do you want a perfect home or do you want to have a happy toddler whose Mommy has time to play?

Decide what is important to you and figure out how to do those tasks as quickly and easily as possible. For instance, you may hate to feel dirt under your feet when you walk across the floors but a little dust doesn't bother you. Keeping that chore done consistently will make the house feel clean to you.

Make Some Lists

Grab a sheet of paper and decide which chores can be skipped, which chores can be simplified, and which chores you can get help with. Is it really essential to fold underwear or can they be placed neatly in a drawer? Can socks be tossed into a drawer and the wearer match them himself? It is really necessary to separate all the kid's laundry or can most things be washed together?

Clear out clutter as much as possible. Clutter makes housework more difficult, time consuming and downright dangerous (like when you are tripping over things in the basement or having items fall on your head in closets). Go through your house with a large trash bag on a regular basis and throw things out if they don't make you smile when you look at them. Donate it to charity and feel good about yourself!

I Helped!

Your toddler can do a surprising number of household chores and will probably be delighted to imitate you. When you dust, hand her a microfiber dusting cloth and let her "help". Toddlers love to splash their hands in water. Maybe she could "wash dishes" in the sink next to you. She may not be so great at folding laundry, but can she dig out all the socks and put them in a pile for you? Perhaps she can help unload the dishwasher by handing you the spoons and forks. At this stage, the point is not to have her doing chores but rather to keep her happy and close while you get some work done.

Can you hire out some of the household chores? Don't dismiss this right away. If your budget is slim, you might know a teenager who is in need of some extra cash who could come over and help you out. Or maybe you would be willing to forego a dinner out here and there to pay for an occasional housekeeper.

Make Cleaning Convenient

Keep non toxic cleaning products and tools handy so that when you have a moment or two, you can go a quick task.

When your toddler is in the bathtub you have to be in the bathroom to supervise her anyway. Why not clean the floor, sink and toilet while you're in there? Baking soda sprinkled in the sink and toilet will scrub effectively and sweeten the air too. For an inexpensive multi purpose cleaner that you can use around little ones: fill a 32 ounce spray bottle with water, and add a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid.

Keep It Fun

Make picking up a game by asking your child to "find all the red things and put them into the toy bin". Or have them pick up 5 things then come find you for a great big bear hug or tickle. You can also plan something fun after cleaning to create a natural incentive to get things done. "As soon as we pick up all the toys, it will be time to go to the playground!" Kids respond well to quick cleaning sessions. The "10 second tidy" where everyone picks up and puts away as quickly as possible work well. And the effect is lost on me, but a lot of kids love to sing the Barney clean up song when they're tidying.

Life with little ones around is a bit like using spaghetti for bookends: fun but certainly messy. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Somehow, Carrie Lauth of http://www.NaturalMomsTalkRadio.com found the time to write this article in the midst of picking up after 4 little ones.Chastity Blog3102

Buying A Car: 5 Ways To Save Money

Buying a car is an expensive thing. But, does it have to be? There are a number of things that you can do to get the car that you want for much less. Simple and a bit more complex, these tips will help you to save money in the long run. Buying a car can be affordable.

Here are five tips for saving money on your next car purchase.

1.Get your financing in order before you leave to look at cars. While many car dealerships are offering financing for vehicles, this can be one of the more costly options. Make sure you talk to online financing companies, your local bank and your credit union. You probably will save a good amount of money here.

2.Do the down payment. Even a bit of a down payment can help you to save considerably down the road. You can save a good deal of money if you invest wisely. But, adding a bit of a down payment to the purchase will help to lower the amount of principal that you actually owe on that vehicle purchase.

3.If your credit is bad, get a co signer. Having someone else that can help you to get your car is a great way to secure a vehicle for a more affordable price. This helps to lower the amount of risk that you present to the car financer. The lower the amount of risk you prove to be, the better your chances of paying less for that car.

4.Trade-ins are good too. If you have a car that you plan to trade in, you may be able to get a good price for it. To improve the amount you get, make sure that the car is as clean as possible, is running well and has been taken care of. In addition to this, make sure that you know the value of it by looking it up on the web. Know what its worth so you do not get taken. The value of the trade in will lower the amount you have to have financed on your vehicle.

5.Shop around and haggle. There is no shame in saving money. Dealers are selling cars to make a commission. How much will they make off of you? Do your homework out the type of car you are looking for and know its worth. Look at several dealerships to find the right car at the right price. Don't forget to haggle with the dealership salesmen. But, whatever you do, do not be insulting to them. That's the wrong way to get your price down.

Take these five ways to save on the next time you buy a car and you will walk way with the benefits that you deserve. You can save a good amount of financing and interest charges this way.

Glossary Of Terms (S - Z) - CCTV

S/N RATIO
Signal-to-Noise ratio is calculated with the logarithm of the normal signal and the noise RMS value.

SCENE ILLUMINATION
The average light level incident upon a protected area. Normally measured for the visible spectrum with a light meter having a spectral response corresponding closely to that of the human eye and is quoted in lux. Scotopic Vision levels are illumination levels below 10-2 lux, thus invisible to the human eye. Silicon. The raw material of which modern semiconductor devices are made.

SIMPLEX
In general, it refers to a communications system that can transmit information in one direction only. In CCTV, simplex is used to describe a method of multiplexer operation where only one function can be performed at a time, eg. either recording or playback individually.

SKIN EFFECT
The tendency of alternating current to travel only on the surface of a conductor as its frequency increases.

SLOW SCAN
The transmission of a series of frozen images by means of analog or digital signals over limited bandwidth media, usually telephone.

SMEAR
An unwanted side effect of vertical charge transfer in a CCD chip. It shows vertical bright stripes in places of the image where there are very bright areas. In better cameras smear is minimised to almost undetectable levels.

SMPTE
Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. Spectrum analyser. An electronic device that can
show the spectrum of an electric signal.

SPECTRUM
In Electromagnetics, spectrum refers to the description of a signals amplitude versus its frequency components. In optics, spectrum refers to the light frequencies composing the "white light" which can be seen as rainbow colours.

SPG
Stands for Sync Pulse Generator. A source of synchronisation pulses.

SPLIT SCREEN UNIT
(Quad compressor). Equipment which simultaneously displays parts or more than one image on a single monitor. It usually refers to four quadrants display.

S-VHS
Super VHS format of video recording. A newer standard proposed by JVC, preserving the downward compatibility with the VHS format. It offers much better horizontal resolution up to 400 TV lines. This is mainly due to the colour separation techniques, high quality video heads and better tapes. Sync. This is short from synchronisation pulse.

TBC
Time Base Correction. Refers to the synchronisation of various signals inside a device such as a multiplexer or a TBC Corrector.

TDG
Short for time and date generator.

TELEMETRY
Remote controlling system of, usually, digital encoded data, intended to control pan, tilt, zoom, focus, preset positions, wash, wipe and similar. Being digital, it is usually sent via twisted pair cable, or coaxial cable together with the video signal.

TERMINATION
This usually refers to the physical act of terminating a cable with a special connector, which for coaxial cable is, usually, BNC. For fibre optic cable this is the ST connector. It can also refer to the impedance matching when electrical transmission is in use. This is especially important for high frequency signals, such as the video signal, where the characteristic impedance is accepted to be 75 Ohms.

TIME LAPSE VCR
(TL VCR). A video recorder, most often in VHS format, that can prolong the video recording on a single tape up to 960 hours (this refers to a 180 min tape). This type of VCRs are very often used in CCTV systems. The principle of operation is very simple - instead of having the video tape travel at a constant speed of 2.275 cm/s (which is the case with the domestic models of VHS VCRs), it moves with discrete steps which can be controlled. Time Lapse VCRs have a number of other special functions very useful in CCTV, such as external alarm trigger, time and date superimposed on the video signal, alarm search and so on.

TIME LAPSE VIDEO RECORDING
The intermittent recording of video signals at intervals to extend the recording time of the recording medium. It is usually measured in reference to a 3 hr (180 min) tape.

TIME MULTIPLEXING
The technique of recording several cameras onto, usually, one time lapse VCR by sequentially sending camera pictures with a timed interval delay to match the time lapse mode selected on the recorder.

UHF SIGNAL
Ultra high frequency signal. In television it is defined to belong in the radio spectrum between 470 MHz and 850 MHz. Unbalanced signal. In CCTV, this refers to a type of video signal transmission through a coaxial cable. It is called unbalanced because the signal travels through the centre core only, while the cable shield is used for equating the two voltage potentials between the coaxial cable ends.

UPS
Uninterruptible power supply. These are power supplies used in the majority of high security systems, whose purpose is to back-up the system for at least 10 minutes without mains power. The duration of this depends on the size of the UPS, usually expressed in VA, and the current consumption of the system itself.

VDA
Video Distribution Amplifier. A device that provides multiple outputs from one video signal such that interference to one output will not affect others.

VERTICAL SHIFT REGISTER
The mechanism in CCD technology whereby charge is read out from the photo sensors of an Interline Transfer or Frame Interline Transfer sensor.

VHF
Stands for Very High Frequency. A signal encompassing frequencies between 30 and 300 MHz. In television, VHF Band I uses frequencies between 45 MHz and 67 MHz, and between 180 MHz and 215 MHz for Band III. Band II is reserved for FM radio from 88 MHz to 108 MHz.

VHS
Stands for Video Home System, as proposed by JVC, a video recording format that is most often used in homes, but also in CCTV. It has its own limitations due to the concept itself, the speed of recording, the magnetic tapes used and the colour separation technique. Most of the CCTV equipment today supersedes VHS resolution.

VIDEO EQUALISATION CORRECTOR
(Video Equaliser). A device which corrects for unequal frequency losses and/or phase errors in the transmission of a video signal. Video frame store. A device which enables digital storage of one or more images for steady display on a video monitor.

VIDEO IN-LINE AMPLIFIER
A device providing amplification of a video signal.

VIDEO MATRIX SWITCHER
(VMS). A device for switching more than one camera, VCR, video printer and similar, to more than one monitor, VCR, video printer and similar. Much more complex and more powerful than video switchers.

VIDEO MONITOR
A device for converting a video signal into an image.

VIDEO MONITOR
A device for converting a video signal into an image.

VIDEO PRINTER
A device for converting a video signal to a hard copy printout. It could be a monochrome (B/W) or colour. They come in different format sizes. Special paper is needed.

VIDEO SIGNAL
An electrical signal containing all of the elements of the image produced by a camera or any other source of video information.

VIDEO SWITCHER
A device for switching more than one camera to one or more monitors manually, automatically or upon receipt of an alarm condition.

VITS
Video Insertion Test Signals. Special shaped electronic signals inserted in the "invisible" lines (in the case of PAL, lines 17, 18, 330 and 331) that are used to determine the quality of reception.

VLF
Very Low Frequency. Refers to the frequencies in the band between 10 and 30 kHz.

Bathroom Remodeling Donts - What Not To Do

Bathroom remodeling takes time, careful planning, and precise execution. The objective of a bathroom remodel is to upgrade the appearance of your bathroom with the latest bathroom fixtures, designs, and styles. However, bathroom remodeling can be a bit overwhelming. Even if you dont install your new fixtures and furnishings yourself, simply selecting that perfect bathroom vanity, sink, and mirror can be more complicate than you think, especially if youve never remodeled a bathroom before.

Below are a few tips on what NOT to do when remodeling your bathroom. Use these tips to avoid common mistakes and ensure that the look you intend for your bathroom is actually what turns out.

Bathroom Remodeling Tip #1: Dont Wing It

Some people think that remodeling a bathroom is a piece of cake and simply involves swapping out an old sink or vanity with a new one; however, because the bathroom involves plumbing, you need to carefully plan out your remodel. You need to make sure the new fixtures you select fit the space and the plumbing of your bathroom, or at least understand that rearranging the layout of your bathroom may involve rerouting some pipes (which is an arduous task). So, before you even think about the new vanity or sink you want to buy, establish the basic layout of your new bathroom. If the layout is staying the same, take note of the plumbing layout and keep that in mind when youre shopping for a new sink, toilet, or vanity. If youre rearranging a few items, draw out how you want your bathroom to look, measure everything to make sure your vision is realistic, and then see if you need to reroute any plumbing. In some cases, you wont know if your new bathroom layout will call for new plumbing to be installed, so call a plumber and get his/her professional opinion. After youve mapped everything out and established the basic layout of your new bathroom design, then you can start shopping for your new lavish bathroom furnishings.

Bathroom Remodeling Tip #2: Dont Buy the First Thing You See

The key to successfully remodeling your bathroom is to shop around. You never want to buy the first thing you find. If youre not already set on a specific vanity or sink design, go online and check out the latest bathroom furnishings. This way, youll get a better idea of the number of different styles available without having to leave your home. Shopping around will also give you the opportunity to comparison shop. Today, modern bathroom furnishings are more available and affordable than ever before. Thanks to wholesalers who purchase bathroom furnishings in bulk, you can get that elegant vessel sink youve always wanted at a price that wont bust your remodeling budget. Before you buy, you better shop around.

Bathroom Remodeling Tip #3: If Dont Know, Dont Install It Yourself

Getting a new toilet is a different experience from getting a new bed. With a bed, you pay the extra $50 to get it delivered and put in your home. However, with a toilet, getting it delivered and put in your home is only the beginning. Bathroom remodeling almost always involves plumbing work. Even if you arent rerouting pipes or drainage systems, installing new bathroom fixtures (such as a toilet, sink, and faucet) takes a little plumbing know-how. However, not all of us are as handy as we would like to be. And when youre dealing with running water, its important to know how to properly uninstall and install bathroom fixtures. So, if youre a novice at plumbing, call a professional. Many bathroom remodeling shops offer installation with the purchase of their products (for an added fee) or know of plumbers in your area who can install your new bathroom fixtures for you. Either way, if youve never installed a toilet, sink, or faucet, or had a bad previous experience with plumbing, its worth the money to have your new bathroom furnishings installed right.

When it comes to bathroom remodeling, its very important to plan out your new layout, shop around, and install your new bathroom furnishings properly. Failing to do so could cost you more money in the long run and result in a less-than-perfect remodel.

5 Sure-Fire Boosts to Your Online Money-Making Success

Ok, youve purchased one of those money-maker products and its giving you all sorts of ideas for making money online. Now what?

Although its possible to generate Internet income without a website, youll eventually want one or even several so you can get listed in search results. But dont forget, search engines love to send visitors to content-rich websites, so youll want to cram your sites with useful information. Heres how it works Good content impresses your visitors, who are then coaxed into buying.

What can you do to boost your fledgling online business? Study and learn, and then keep studying and learning! I know it sounds like work, but competition on the Internet is fierce and soon only the very knowledgeable will succeed. You can make yourself one of the success stories.

Heres how to build a website business that will put more online cash in your pocket.

Step 1: Buy a product that includes a free, starter website.

Some money-making products offer a free website after you purchase the package. Its a great start for your Internet empire, so take advantage of the offer.

Recommended: Adwords Miracle, The Ultimate Wealth Package, The Rich Jerk.

Step 2: Use Adwords ads to get traffic to your website in a hurry.

Check out books from the library or book stores to get familiar with Google Adwords (that's the name of Google's pay-per-click (PPC) ad program). These ads appear in the Sponsored Links area, to the right of web search results.

How does Adwords work? You pick targeted keywords and write a brief ad to entice your visitors to click. Its the quickest way to get traffic to your website, but it will cost you. You bid on the keywords you want your ad to be listed for and pay the bid price each time a visitor clicks on your ad.

Recommended: If you have the money, buy at least one information product that teaches the basics of PPC advertising and gives you some insight into the techniques professional marketers use. Two excellent products are Adwords Miracle and Beating Adwords.

Step 3: Learn some HTML and put Adsense ads on your websites.

You will want to adjust and adapt your websites to add more income-producing content. For example, Google has a free program called Adsense where you place Google Adwords ads on your web pages. Google gives you the instructions making it easy to place Adsense ads on your web pages, as long as you know basic HTML.

Adsense ads are matched to the content on your pages so theyre relevant to your website and of interest to your visitors. If someone clicks on an Adsense ad from your website you get credit for the click at approximately 50% of the per-click cost the ad owner pays Google.

Heres the benefit of Adsense: if your visitors arent ready to buy the products on your website, they may want to click on a relevant Adsense ad instead. If they do, you get some income to offset the cost of any Adwords ad they clicked to get to your site in the first place. In fact, some people actually make a living from Adsense revenue. You could be one of them!

Recommended: Your public library has books and CD-ROMs that can train you in basic HTML. If you prefer online instruction, try the free courses at W3Schools: (http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_intro.asp). For Adsense information: (https://www.google.com/adsense/).

Step 4: Become fluent in SEO (Search Engine Optimization.)

This is a fancy phrase that simply means adjusting the content and some of the HTML to make your websites more appealing to search engines, like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Search engines look for keyword-rich content and certain HTML tags to determine the topic of your site. The more search engine friendly you make your website, the higher you will appear in the search results. But why bother, if youre forking-out cash to have Adwords ads send traffic to your site?

Consider this Statistics show that searchers trust and click normal search engine results more than Adwords ads. So, if you tweak your site a little bit you will eventually get FREE search placement. Instead of clicking on one of your expensive Adwords ads, a prospective customer will see your website listed in the general search results and click there instead. That, my friend, is a NO COST click! Well worth a little study and some massaging of your website content and HTML.

Recommended: SitePro News. Sign up for their free newsletter about site promotion and search engine optimization at http://www.sitepronews.com. This is a quality site that wont spam you.

Step 5: Repeat, then repeat again.

Once youve mastered the above strategies, you simply create more websites using what youve learned. Check the money-making product you originally bought for ideas for website topics and products to sell.

Your Strategy Summary.

Ok, lets review how the whole process works. Heres what you do:

(1) Buy a money-making product with a free website that jump-starts your online business.
(2) Use Adwords to generate quick traffic to your website.
(3) Put Adsense ads on your site to offset your Adwords costs.
(4) Tweak your HTML and website content to improve your search engine placement and visitor interest.
(5) Create more websites using the free site as a template and duplicate your success, over and over again.

Thats how money is made on the Internet. Theres no real trick to it, you simply go from one successful website to another, earning a little money from each one. With some study and a certain amount of work, youll eventually own a website empire that generates enough cash for you to make a comfortable online living.

Dog Chewing: 4 Essential Steps to Stop the Destruction

Humans play solitaire to keep themselves occupied when theyre alone. Dogs chew. Its what they do. Actually, chewing is much more important to dogs than solitaire is to humans. Dogs need to chew on things to maintain healthy teeth and gums and good jaw strength. Solitaire will do nothing for your dental hygiene.

Puppies need to chew even more when they are teething (in fact, there are special chew toys that can be dampened and frozen to provide relief for painful gums during this process). So chewing isnt a problem in itself, but destructive chewing is. Dogs need to learn what they can and cannot chew on, and they are quite capable of doing so when properly taught. Here are four steps every dog owner should take to encourage constructive chewing.

1. Prevent. As always the best cure, but dog owners should always dog proof their home, especially with puppies. They can be very creative with what they chew. Anything not removable that has been or is likely to be targeted can be sprayed with a deterrent, such as Bitter Apple.

2. Interrupt. Whenever you are there with your dog, it is important that you actively teach them commands for leave it or drop. These are given whenever you see them taking something into their jaws that should not be in there. You may have to orchestrate this training process by adding some of the items that you removed in step 1. But thats what training is all about - setting up safe scenarios in which you can help them differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate behavior. These commands will also work well when you are out with your dog and they want to pick up something dangerous or just foul.

3. Redirect. Heres where you start teaching your friend which toys belong to them, to chew to pieces if they like (and they will). Immediately after removing the inappropriate item from their clutches, replace it with an appropriate toy. It will take some time to really zero in on a few of your dogs most favorite things. But as you try lots of different toys to encourage constructive chewing, keep in mind that the best ones are those designed to promote healthy teeth and gums such as dental chew ropes. Also, try to find what are called active toys, which give your dog something to do for an extended period of time. For example, Kong balls and rubber toys can be stuffed with food, such as peanut butter or whatever they go for. Often dogs are inactive when they are alone because theyre missing you.

5. Praise. The final step is simple but not one to forget.

The good news is that most dogs will grow out of this phase somewhat at the same time as they figure out whats chewable and whats not. If your dogs chewing problem continues, however, it is likely to be an expression of nervous energy (the same goes for excessive licking, of themselves and others). The number one cause of nervous energy for dogs is lack of exercise.

A brisk 15-minute walk is simply not enough for many dogs, barely a warm-up for a Border Collie, and it is important to understand that exercise is different from a play session or outing to the park.

The mistake that a lot of dog owners make, which is an unfortunate function of their busy schedules, is that they pack in two high intensity (15-20 minute) fetch sessions at the beginning and end of the day. True, this is much better than nothing, but the fact that the dog goes more or less from sleeping to sprinting, then from lying around all day to sprinting again, can cause extra wear and tear on the joints and possibly early arthritis. Like humans, a dog benefits from a decent warm-up and warm-down, and busy owners should do their best to sneak in some longer, less intense exercise sessions.

All the best with it, and dont chew out your dog in the meantime.
